We Need a Good Name
Three days into the project, but the website still doesn’t have a name. According to the 100-day plan Claude AI created, I should decide on the site name on Day 4 and secure the domain on Day 5.
First, I asked Claude to recommend some interesting yet memorable names.

On the first attempt, Claude’s chosen candidates were ChooseClassics, PageTurner, and StoryFork. When I asked for recommendations suitable not only for global (English-speaking) visitors but also for Korean users (who will be our second primary target market), Claude suggested StoryChoice (스토리초이스).

It looked good, so I checked for the basic .com domain availability, but storychoice.com is already registered. It’s not being used for a service, but I’d need to contact the domain owner to purchase it.
Besides .com, I could use domains like storychoice.io or variations like story-choice.com, but Claude says those aren’t good ideas.

The three alternative candidates Claude recommended aren’t really appealing either. I pondered whether there might be something fresher and more engaging. Then something suddenly popped into my head…
What If Dr. Jekyll Had Made a Different Choice?

It was Marvel Studios’ “What If…?” series I watched on Disney+. Like What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?, it’s animated content showing multiverse stories that differ from the established Marvel Cinematic Universe storylines. This seems like perfect naming that fits the project concept of providing varied stories of classic novels based on reader choices.

Claude thinks it’s a good idea too. Among the site names starting with WhatIf that Claude recommended, the first one, WhatIfClassics.com, looks best.
In Korean, it would be 왓이프클래식 (WhatIf Classics). Just saying 클래식 (Classic) might evoke classical music rather than classic novels, but according to Claude, having 왓이프 (WhatIf) in front makes it naturally understood as classic literature. I have a Penguin Classics collection on my bookshelf, so that makes sense.
And thus, the name and website domain for this side project was decided: whatifclassics.com.
